97 (1969) The Tiger Girl

Friends,

From this number starting posting without any modification mostly scans (not all) by Venkitachalam Subramanian .

Reasons:
1. His scans are coming in good quality as well as good quantity.
2. Can share quickly with a regular flow, let say with frequency of 1-3 days.
3. Many friends like vintage look. However slowly I'll clean for myself, can share with interested persons later through blog or privately. If anyone wishes to get, let me know.
4. Saved time can use in:
a. in fixing accidentally damaged panels while book binding etc which takes lot of time.
b. making a little easier other member's tasks.
c. increasing frequency at my other blogs.

Don't worry, hold on, PBC has returned in 2008 mode. Just make space in your disk. How I managed so far & I'll manage, it's my secret. Can say today, 2008 and 2009 (especially) were hardest time in real life, did you feel?

d. And finally doing my real life work, the recession is not over. Some challenging real life tasks are in hand.

And a smaller size file link will be provided as many friends like.
Which resolution you like, pls let me know:
a. Width 768px
b. Width 1200px
c. Width 1600px

This issue sharing with 1200px width link along with original size.

It's the Daily Strips #42- The Tiger Girl ( 18-Jun-1951 ~ 15-Sep-51).

  1. cleaned versions are always a bonus but they require tremendous amount of time and labour. i'll always welcome them if you find time to produce them among your busy schedule.

as a test, you can present both original and cleaned version on same resolutions and check which is downloaded more, to have an idea.

for different resolutions, I consider 1200px as standard and 1500-1600px width as high resolution. An IJC at 1200px takes about 16-18 MB and at 1500px about 25 MB. anything in between is best for me.

you said somewhere that saving in photoshop at value 8 is good. my experience is that if scans are good and cleaning is done well, a value 5 or in some cases 3 can give sufficiently good results. please experiment on this and check.

let us listen to the others now on this topic.

btw, thanks for another gold. you are charged up.

  2. @TPH: Thanks for tips, I tried yesterday night. The results are coming fine although it was cropped and save at 8 (high) already, not as you recommended, first cleaning, and then reducing. Without reducing width (approx 2000px) saving at 5 got 22-23 mb size. I'll send you today, pls check and let me know your opinion. If OK, in future one big and one such quality (& size) I’ll share. If required, could experiment further. Once those will be at net, one can choose his desired size.

A little sensitivity about width, as at present 1600px monitors are becoming standard to not face problems like earlier 400/768px width scans in future.

Earlier, generally received cropped and little reduced size files. Cleaning increased size, probably due to use of different versions of photoshop or other software. Now Iunknown sends 150-200mb size raw files, final results are coming better & final size 32-38mb (2000px width after editing). Earlier 50+ MB.

From Aug to mid December 2010, again from mid Jan to Feb. 2011, probably till April 2011 would be busier. The current plan will help to make a regular flow and without major modification in mine & the contributor’s plans – we’ll get more and more HR scans.

There are around 30 early IJC which faced panel cutting etc. The scans like 97 are relatively easier to clean & relatively good without make up :). We already noted, the colours of Venkit's scans are coming better after improvement. As well as Venkit is in mood at present. That's why thinking to share such scans quickly and saved time using in fixing; these fixed will come already improved.

Planning to buy a faster computer, it’s just for saving time in editing only. Rest improved version (which will not come now) will come later in blog, if many will be interested. If I see less people are interested, then people like you, will get – be sure. There are some other quick ways for sharing except torrent which will save our time.

At early issues which need replacement & not available with Venkit, some good collectors are working in this direction already. Soon we'll see. :)

As none of us is running to enter himself in “Guinness World Records Book”. So, we can share enjoying the process, the time suitable for us, this current policy will give satisfaction to all people concerned/interested now and in future.

  3. I like the bigger size, higher quality scans. In this day and age, hard drive storage is becoming cheaper and cheaper and there is no reason to turn down the quality.
