Indrajal Comics [Hindi]- Issue 354 Juarion Ka Jaal [Flash Gordon]

Hi again,

I hope everyone is fine and happy.

This is a special post. Few days ago when I posted issue no. 33 in Hindi we received a comment from Mr. Subhas Kumar who lives in Delhi offering his help in scanning two Hindi Indrajal comics which are no. 354 and 424 respectively. Impressed by his enthusiasm I contacted him and shared my Email ID with him so that he can send his scan copy. Today I received both of the comics from here, so decided to share the 1st one today itself.

Although Issue 354 Juarion ka Jaal was already scanned and shared here earlier (Link will be updated soon), but his interest to share Indrajal Comics had compelled me to create this post.

Here I am sharing the Raw file as scanned by Mr. Subhash Kumar, as many Comics lovers like me like the unedited raw files of the older comics, might be because of nostalgia we feel reading those ones. The pages have also been cropped by him only.  So all thanks to Subhash Ji for a great scan and I also hope in future some more Indrajal comics lovers like him will come ahead and help us in preserving these gems of Indian comics industry.

"The NEXT BEST thing to a LIVE Thriller"....

....remember this famous caption of Indrajal Comics in the late '80s??(though it was applicable rightly from the beganning!!!isn't it ,friends??:o) )

Being an ardent Indrajal fan,I've cherished every bit of these 'long lost' gems!!! Thus,it's NOT only the original 'comic-pages' but those ads/other stuffs do matter for me a lot! :-)
In short, each & every "Indrajal Pages" are 'priceless gems' for us! Isn't it friends???

From the last few days,I was just curious how many "Indrajal-pages" were published in TOTAL(incld.those Covers/Ads/Features etc besides the original comics ) in those 803 issues!
So I'd looked in this matter more seriously & matter of fact, after bit research I delighted to learn the exact 'figure'(wid some interesting stuffs too!!) .....it's simply amazing, friends!:o)

Now,while the first 28 issues(Ijc No.1 -No.28) were contained 28 pages each(allthough first 10 issues contained 16-page comic each, while next 18 issues were 20-24 pages each of same...rest pages were filled wid some G.K. kinda stuffs!).Then Indrajals were published in conventional & most familiar 32-page format (except one 'bumper' issue,No.49 of 48 pages!)which ran for more than 23 years(Ijc No.29 -No.788/Vol.26 No.32) and it covers 757 issues(out of total 803) !!So it's pretty clear that this 32-page format was almost a characteristic features of this amazing comic-series!
Then in August 1989,i.e. just before 8-9 months of cancelation their series,ToI briefly converted Indrajal Comics in a 36-pager(Vol.26 No.33/No.789 - V27 No.8/No.805) which includes last 17 issues!

So,numerically the TOTAL 'Indrajal Pages' are 25,668(for a TOTAL 803 issues) !!!!
Wow!! A HUGEEEE TREASURE!!ain't??? :o)

Personally,I don't prefer to collect books/comics just for sake of collection(i.e. not intend to read actually). That's the reason why I'd rejected most of the times those B-graded Buz/Garth/Nomad/Corrigan etc with crappy Charlton/King-Phantom/Mandrake/Flash which covers more than 170 Indrajals!Well,I'd collected some of these(~50) to find-out the essence, but I was really disappointed! :-(
But,NOT NOW onwards!!!!! ;O)) Things have been changed quite a lot in the last few months & nowadays I'm looking for any Indrajals which are missing(irespective of titles/heroes) from my collection(physical) or even those I've as cover-less,i.e. missing those 4-page front/back covers! Allthough I don regret much for not taking those(B-grade etc) ,as surely I'll not read them anyway, even if I get them(still ,a few exceptions are bound to happen ) ;).

But obviously I will check those 'other' stuffs like various ads & Henries(love it,love it,love it!!!)/Chimpoo/Babua etc cartoons & of'cos Timpa Comics(loved this kid-detective series!!) ....even in IJC's last days, that funny Agent003(comic-Bond!).Then,there are many various informative-yet-mindblowing Features like Riplies(simply wow!!!) or Capries(Fans loved it's funny dispalys wid 'amazing infos' in each of it's 45 pages!!) or World's tale(Fans mostly loved it's infos on 'Jurasic periods'....ohh,art-work also fabulous wid great write-up!) and many more which are no less important/nosatlgic for us!!!:o)

Between, talking about my 'newly' found addiction/motto(to collect ALL Ijcs 'irrespective' of heroes/publications),fact is I've already collected some ...and looking for the rest!!No doubt,I've enjoyed those 'other stuffs' featured in 5-6 pages of 'these' Ijcs much more than the comic instead!!:-)))

Now coming to an another topic,do our Indrajals Lovers have noticed that the headers of 'Indrajal Comics' were changed for as much as four times!!!
Here's some display of cover's in which headers were changed with times. After the glorious introduction in 1964,the first change was happened in 1967 .

Then in 1983, Indrajal converted in typical Vol.No. category from the individual No.s so also header converted in a pretty larger size!

The last change was happened in 1989 when Ijc briefly returnted in a forthnightly schedule from it's 7-year-long weekly pattern!

Finally, the price!! I still remember, even that price-tag(it was at the bottom side of cover, earlier in a box & later in a circular or simply in an open-format) itself make me nostalgic, since I'd re-started my 'Ijc-hunt' few years back! In the glorious ~27-year-run,Indrajal-fans experinced a pretty cheap price(compare to 'other' comic-publications) which started with 0.6/- (in 1964) & finished at 6.0/- (in 1990) per copy!!! wow!!! even those ordinary Diamond Comics were relatively higher rated!!

P.S.- Forgive me for such a longgg post, but I guess this one is a real informative and a good serve for those looking for intimate details of their loves & NOT only the creamy-part (i.e. ONLY the Comic-pages n nothing else...unfortunetly which's a charcteristic nature of many a 'so-called' Indrajal Lovers in our blogs. :-/ )
Beside this, also I've to confess one thing....I'm simply loving it (i.e. sharing/writing something on these lost gems!) ;o)

'cos definitely Falk was intend to do so.It's his 'unique' style to left an option for a re-entry for many a wicked/deadly criminals & in this way we have experience many a thrillers .Cobra ,Clay Camel, league of '8' are among the most famous ones! Mandrake:The Headless Figure(Vol.24 No.29)[Part-I]

UPDATE: A few 'special' Indrajals are under consideration to post in this Blog! For this purpose,a Poll has been added .So friends, please select your most favorite ones through casting your votes!! :-)

When I'd started my blog in last year,I was decide to concentrate on the 'other side' of Indrajal Comics & it's heroes, i.e. discussions on various aspects/stories/characters instead of posting ONLY scans of comics...as these (ijc-scans) are very much available in other blogs in a regular pace !! Thus I want to do something different in this blog-space.

But,I guess, after crossing 50th Post with many a such discussive ones on Phantom/Mandrake/Bahadur & even Dara(with other comic-characters too!) , a change will serve better & thus here I am presenting the 'first' Indrajal Comics in my blog & starting with a Mandrake's thrilling adventure :The Headless Figure (Vol.24 No.29/30)!!
Initially,I'd uploaded this one for the 50th Post itself, but then went for Kula-Ku strip.Between, I'd posted a brief-review of this story in my one post. This story based on a 1986 Daily:The Case of the Headless Man(D193)
I'd first collect it's English version (physical) long ago, then recently the Bengali ones too!! Thanks A/V for scanning & sharing this one!!
This time I represent the Part-I.
E-N-J-O-Y the Magical world of Mandrake!!!!!! :-))

Mandrake Cover Project #5: Mandrake/Lothars Various ADVENTUROUS Trips special

In their more-than-seven-decade long adventurous lives,Mandrake/Lothar had have experienced many a mysterious, deadly n amazing ones in their various dual trips. There are some discreet trips where they faced weird/scary situations ,but most famous probably the series-of-adventures during their visit to Moxley U for a show!

Now,firstly coming to the discreet ones, their meeting with legendary Big Foot in a jungle near a Mountain-region(IJC No.362) or dealing with crazy-n-crooked botanist,Dr.Fleur and his mysterious Glass-Castle (Vol.21 No.23/24) and how Mandrake dealt him are among some MOST famous tales!

Besides these, how one can forget the discovery of legendary Golden-City:El Doredo(under ground) amidst a lonely high-way where everything were IN GOLD (Vol.21 No.6)?? Or their meeting with a SCARY WONDERLAND (during eruption of a forbidden volcano) where insects are in gigantic sizes & with contrary, humans
are like some 6-inch weird shape(Vol.21 No.42)!!!

Besides these, one should not forget a rather lighter and funny(to some extent) tale of a distant-mountain witch who was in reality a young-n-beautiful lady & 7th in her 'witch'-generation(Vol.20 No.44)!!!
some generations........ ;-))

Of course all I've mentioned are great thrillers matching with gripping scripts & in support, marvelous illustration by Fred Fredricks!!

Now coming to their trip to the Moxley U,M/L faced many a weird situations!! Firstly, they faced hijackers(#277;inside story) followed by most scary meting with Ghost town (#265) ! When I first read Ghost Town, the concept of a secret hide-out of ALL 'suppose to be dead/missing' crooks/under world leaders fascinated me!!wow!!

After this,Mr.Heavy from Planet Uropa was waiting for them (NEVER appeared in IJC)!!But that was not enough,as first bank robbers & then a gang of local killers (who robbed & then killed old people) were faced Mandrake's amzing trick(#348)!!!

Finally, M/L duo reached their destination:Moxley U & after a great show of various fabulous tricks from the GREATEST Magician on earth, their journey finished with discovery of weirdest under-ground hide-out of millionaire 'Top Dog' amidst an American desert (#318)!!

[Please notice,IJC did NOT published 'Moxley U adventures' in the serial orders as appeared in the original strips]

Well,in the last days of Indrajals,we have seen again a trip from this world-famous duo. That time they were in way towards another University show:in Harison, where they met Madam Sir-see,who enslaved men using her invented deadly drug(The grip of treachery ;IJC Vol.27 No.4)! Well,I'm NOT sure whether this a particular trip can be treat as 'only' M/L dual trip,as this time their saviours (from Sir-see) were Narda & Karma - their beautiful girlfriends !!

I donno whether they had any such trips in '90s!

Mandrake Cover Project #4 :The League of "8" special

UPDATE: A couple of *NEW* Polls has been added at this Blog! Visitors may cast their votes, and while for the 1st Poll, you can vote for ONLY one option, multiple-voting option has been enabled for the 2nd one!! :-)
------------------------------------------------------------
Friends,in this NEW post,I'm presenting some great covers of "The League of 8" stories were published in Indrajal Comics!

The first ever introduction with Mandrake Co. with this deadly ancient and secret crime-gang was way back in 1965 in the story "The treacherous gang" as No.77,when Narda accidentally discovered the existence of this Medieval gang in modern days..during her research in History!!

Next,it was amazing tale "The Trail of 8" (IJC No.144)" followed by "Dr.Dell and 8 (D136;1968)"- a very late publication in IJC as the 'Giant Octopus (No.226;1976) n republished in Vol.23 No.10'.....
But,his crime gang was much more deadly & wold-wide than Mandrake and Chief could imagined. They made their return once again in "The Bribe (D141)" published in IJC as 'False Will' (No.163).
[One "8" story,'The test of magician' was published as 2-part back-up story with Phantom ,No.327 n 328;1979]

Since then, with regular intervals, Mandrake/Lothar had fought against "8" and Octon -the mysterious leader, destroyed each time a more 'arm ' among their world-wide eight arms!!

The LAST '8' appeared in IJC as "The claws of Treasury(Vol.25 No.30 & 31; 1988)"....

P.S.- The LAST Mandrake Daily published in IJC was D202(secret invention; Vol.27 No.4) and the very next one,D203 was another splendid adventure on this crime-gang,"The gift of 8"..which we majority missed!! :-(
Wait!!.... it was NOT the end,one can witnessed the climax of these thriller series only in D211(The Book of Criminals;1992) & D217(Secret Place;1994) ,in later one,Octon was revealed and HE WAS NONE OTHER THAN...guess???.....COBRA aka Lucifer!!..the evil bro of Mandrake!!!
Thus, with that strip, this legendary secret crime-gang was apparently finished, though Falk was initiated to telling another tale on "8" ,but couldn't complete due to his illness followed by his death in March,1999......Later,it was completed by Fredricks with a complete different angle. It was the LAST Falk-Mandrake Daily: D231(The secret Mission) .
You can d/l it from HERE!!
